Holidays away with your family are supposed to be a time to relax. The best way to truly relax is to get away from it all and the best way to do that is to go camping. Leaving behind the urban sprawl of towns and cities and setting up camp somewhere in the countryside where you can enjoy clean air and healthy living is one of the best ways to chill out. You know that if you’ve got children, then a camping holiday is the perfect way to spend some quality time together as a family, away from the distractions of TV and the internet. Whether camping in a tent, a caravan or a camper van, you can really get to see an area if you go out into one of the many campsites across Europe instead of visiting a resort in a main town.

Dalaman is situated in Turkey and offers some excellent camping facilities, as well as lots to see and do, including the stunning Lycian Rock Tombs, a series of ancient burial chambers carved into the cliff face. You really get a sense of the history of Turkey in Dalaman.

Shanti Garden Camping offers small huts and communal facilities, and is very close to the beach and surrounded by wonderful smelling pine trees. There is a bar and a restaurant, and they have a number of offers for taking kids free.

The Dalyan Camping complex is right next to the Dalyan River and close to the highly regarded Izutuzu beach, where you can watch turtles lay their eggs on spawning nights. You can stay in one of their small bungalows or take your own tent or camper van. Facilities include hot water showers, electricity, washing machines as well as a bar and restaurant.

For the feel of camping without the lack of air conditioning in the hottest summer months, where it can get up to a record 48.5°C, the Montana Pine Resort, which is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year, offers beautiful rooms set in beautiful gardens away from the hustle and bustle of the city.

For a more energetic camping trip, Dalaman Rafting Tours offer treks up the river with campsites at various points along the Dalaman River. Day trips can be arranged and the prices are very reasonable.

While you are there, make sure you visit the 12 Islands by boat. It is a beautiful trip and day out which is not to be missed.
